Can men undergo Liposuction?

Yes, they can. In fact, anyone can. Barring, of course, any other serious medical issues.
Liposuction (Lipo) is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes the fat that diet and exercise do not seem to help reducing.

It uses a suction technique to remove fat from areas like the neck or arms, thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen. Lipo also improves the contour of the area while removing the excess fat. It is also used to shape these areas while doing so.

There are many types of Lipo, but what they have in common is that they all use a cannula (a thin tube) connected to a vacuum to suck the fat from the body.

Lipo for Men:

As menmales age, and if their lifestyle does not include regular exercise or a stable diet, then the body fat starts collecting around the abdomen, the chest area and along the chin and neck. These are the areas that lipo can targets very effectively and can be quite effective, too.

Male skin retains its elasticity better than that of females. This means that fat under the skin is firmer and is more vascular,( i.e. is well supplied with blood) and is more defined. All these make lipo extremely effective in men.

 Types of Liposuction:
  1. Tumescent Liposuction: this is the most common method. Here the surgeon injects a sterile saline medicated solution into the area where the fat is to be removed. This causes the area to swell and stiffen and then the surgeon makes an incision in the skin, inserts the cannula and vacuums the fat and fluids from that area.
  2. Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction (VASER) : this is often used along with the first methodHere an ultrasound emitter is inserted under the skin which causes the cell walls of the fat to break making it easier to remove.
  3. Laser Assisted Liposuction: here an emitter for high energy laser light is inserted through an incision in the skin and then activated, which emulsifies the fat deposits making it easier to be suctioned away.
  4. Power Assisted Liposuction: here the cannula has a rapid back and front action, which allows the fat to be removed more easily. It allows more precision when removing the fat and may be used when, either large volumes need to be removed or there has already been an earlier liposuction procedure.
